Amy Verder (Let Them Live Rescue) Uses 3 Tier Sex Offender Veterinarian

The other day, Amy Verder, the founder of Let Them Live Rescue, posted this plea for money for puppies that she stated had parvo. There's nothing unusual about that (she makes similar pleas like this quite frequently), except for the fact that she posted a vet's phone number that no one recognized.

Posted by Amy Verder on 10/16/13, screen shot courtesy of the Good, the Bad, the Unforgivable of Animal Rescue page.

A simple search of this phone number brought up an abundance of highly disturbing information about this veterinarian. The vet, Dr. Bruce Langlois, is a three tier registered sex offender, for life, in Michigan. As disturbing as that is, that is not what I find to be the most distressing and upsetting information about him.

The most shocking things that were uncovered involved his record with animals. Animals have surely suffered immensely thanks to this horrific person. The photos of one poor dog's spay incision were especially upsetting to me, as were the horror stories that are posted by loving pet owners whose animals were subjected to the cruelty of this man. He also concocted some sort of drug that was never approved or licensed for veterinary use and he used this on many of his patients, without the knowledge or consent of their owners.

He has also created a non-profit spay neuter organization. His statements about how quickly he can perform these surgeries and some of his practices during surgery are very alarming

Dr. Langlois has obviously been in trouble with the law and he has also been reprimanded by the Michigan Board of Veterinary Medicine, including having his license to practice veterinary medicine suspended at one point.

It's my understanding that these puppies were or are being fostered in Michigan. When I found out about this the day she posted the vet's phone number, I was blown away at the utter stupidity of Amy Verder for choosing this particular vet. A very brief search would have revealed that this is a vet no one in their right mind would trust within a mile of their pets.

This proves yet again that Amy has no real regard for the welfare of her rescued animals. If she did, she would not place them in harm's way. She would be diligent about their care and safety every step of the way.

Animals are nothing more than dollar signs to Amy Verder. A source of income and a way for her for feed her narcissistic need for attention.

Bottom line, all that matters to her is herself.

10/21/13 We were just made aware that there is a Facebook page, Spay Neuter Express Complaints, that was created to report the stories of people whose pets suffered because of Dr. Langlois and his Spay Neuter Express organization. There is one there by Bridgett Jewell that is very heartbreaking. The page also alleges that the Humane Society of Midland County is using this organization to spay and neuter their animals. We have not verified if that allegation is accurate yet but if it is true, that is also highly disturbing.

  1. That is horrifying! The pictures of the spay incisions as well as the times stated for performing such surgeries just frighten me. How many pets have suffered?

    1. Many have even died! The Humane Society of Midland County uses this guy every week and animals have died in his care there.....shame on you Midland Humane Society!

    2. Thank you for the info. I did not know that this Humane Society was using this vet's "services." Horrible that they would risk precious lives like that. There needs to be a protest against this and this sicko's spay/neuter organization as well. They do know about this guy's track record, right?

  2. This is absolutely disgusting and I cannot believe that this has been tolerated and that this vet was allowed to butcher these animals. I am a vet tech who works in surgery beside the doctors performing high-volume spay/neuter. I have NEVER EVER seen anything so horrible. This animal was literally butchered. The incision is about 4 times larger than necessary. It is very shoddy looking and crooked. It is a big butcher job and this man should lose his veterinary license and SHE should be ban from rescue. These stories infuriate me to no end. I am being gentle with my words as you have already warned to do so....But I do not mind being extreme in what I have to say. This is disgusting!!!

    1. The Humane Society of Midland County uses this vet every week...in fact, their youth group mentor planned an event to partner the children with this vet for an outreach and education video....until a parent told her about his background....the current prez and director of this shelter think nothing of his checkered past!!!! 2. Sandy, you can say whatever you like as long as it's not abusive or threatening or violates someone's rights. Thank you very much for your comment. It's nice to have the opinion of someone in the veterinary field who knows the proper procedures for spay and neuter operations. I was horrified by these photos and the stories of other animals who were not properly treated by this loser as well. I agree. I find it very disturbing that he is allowed to continue to practice medicine. How many chances does he really deserve?

    3. Anonymous, I commented under what I assume is your other post about this but what is wrong with that shelter? How they could ignore what this vet has done and trust him with innocent animals I have no idea. This is also very disturbing. I will check out that page, thank you.

    4. I checked out the page and added it to the above blog post at the end. I hope this helps to get the page more attention. This is not the sort of thing that should fly under the radar.

    2. A normal, caring and compassionate person WOULD learn from this huge error in judgment. Amy Verder is none of those things. She will only stop risking animal lives when she is forced to IMO.

  4. Ms. Verder probably uses this butcher because he is cheap. Obviously way too cheap.

    1. That could very well be the reason why she chose to use him. Or it could be that it was convenient in some way or the foster or someone she knows in the area uses them. The reason doesn't really matter. The fact is that before trusting animal lives to anyone, medical degree or not, you should verify that they are safe and trustworthy. As Amy would say, EPIC FAIL.

  5. This particular vet neutered my sisters mix breed doggy in mat, and over the weekend Oct) tied with her pure bred boston terrier, while i have heard these things are possible, i am thinking that possibly the 4 minute procedure may have missed some vital parts, and she will prob have to content with mix breed terrier/boston puppies in a few month. very sad

  6. What is the link that proves Amy Verder uses this vet? Sorry, I hate bad rescue and trying to understand what happened here.

    1. There is no link to that post. If there was, we would have provided it so people could go see for themselves. I've been told that Amy Verder removed her post from her wall that was captured in the screen shot on our post. The fact remains that she posted it, she has been working with people in MI for a couple of years now and this horrible vet's number is the one she had in her post. If we learn more details, we will add them here but this is what we have been able to verify so far.

  7. Amy said the pups were being treated by TWO different vets, yet only gave the phone number to this one. My question is WHY? I have been reading a great deal lately about Amy Verder, and I am shocked and frightened for the animals, if even half of what I have read is true. To use this vet is the final straw. He should lose his veterinary licence immediately, and Amy should be charged with animal abuse! Her "rescue" also needs to be closed straight away!

    1. Janne, that is a very good question and I don't know who the other vet is. It's possible that some of the puppies are being treated at a different vet because there are two fosters being used in different locations, either in MI or KY. The link below is a post about the puppies, also questioning what Amy was doing.

I could not agree more. This man is a danger to animals and should not be allowed to practice veterinary medicine. Amy should be charged with all of her crimes, including fraud, and her rescue should most definitely be shut down forever.

  8. I got my dog from Midland animal shelter and my poor baby girl was butchered by this man. when i called and talked to the vet with questions all they wanted to do was call in some meds. I called my local vet and took her there and he had to redo her surgery she was filled with infection and had two huge masses on each side of insecion that had to be removed. when i called the animal shelter wanting help paying for all this I was told should have took them back to there vet. they also told me they have never had any problems with him before. that was a lie as I read all theses stories. so I have a cute little girl that has fit into our family great . she has cost us hundreds of dollars but all that matters is that she is health. wish more people where aware of what they are doing to helpless animals.

    1. Hi Anonymous! I am sorry that I did not see your comment sooner but thank you so much for sharing your story with us here. It is terrible what your poor baby went through because of this awful vet who obviously is not fit to be a vet or have anything to do with animals. I am really happy that you were able to get her the proper medical care she needed and that she is doing well and living a happy life with you and your family! Thank you for being such a good parent to her! I understand completely how saving a pet's life is so much more important than any financial cost. It is our responsibility to put them first, even if we have to ask for help. I also wish that people were a lot more careful about who they entrust animals to or support because if we get it wrong it is the animals who pay the ultimate price.
