Let Them Live Rescue/Amy Verder - Yet Another Attempt to Steal from Animals

New Hope Pet Rescue in Michigan has recently issued a statement (10/6/13) about their negative experience with Amy Verder and Let Them Live Rescue. Denise Rose, the founder, posted it as a Ripoff Report titled "Let Them Live Rescue Amy Verder Sponsorship Money Never Sent Taylorsville Kentucky."

According to their report, Amy promised them a large sum of money if they would take 12 dogs from her that were supposed to be fully vetted. However, Amy never produced any paperwork that indicated they had been vetted. Amy agreed to pay them $2,000 once the dogs were safely in the care of New Hope Pet Rescue and then another $2,500 at some point afterward. Amy told her that she had a sponsor who was donating this money to help get the dogs safe and their needs taken care of. This was over a month ago and according to this report, Amy still has not paid any of this money to them.

The rescue is threatening to sue her and we hope that she does just that. It's about time that someone hold her accountable for the underhanded things that she does under the Let Them Live Rescue name. Animals deserve better from their rescuers and people should not be taken advantage of either.

This report been attracting a lot of attention as well as some vile posts that Amy has posted recently as well. I anticipate more comments will be added to the report due to this so please be sure to check the link often for new ones.

Note the comments on this post go in reverse order of when they were posted.

We have had several recent requests to publish a lot of information here, which we will get posted as soon as we can. Much of it is not new information but it hasn't been shared in such a public way before. Amy obviously has an unhealthy need for attention. We are happy to oblige and help put her name in headlights. Please stay tuned.

  1. This is all crazy to understand. First place, why would one rescue ask another rescue for $4,500 for 11 or 12 dogs that they had adopters for? Aren't the adopters paying fees for their animals? That is asking for $375 per dog for 12 and $409 per dog at 11 dogs!!!!!!!!!!! I have never heard as much. I know that to properly vet an animal it can run hundreds if they have complications, but geeeez, did every dog have complications? And again weren't the adopter paying any of this cost. I have to say I met Amy at the vet and spent 2 hours with her. I am in no way connected to either of these people, but Amy had taken on over 14 feral dogs that week and my 2 semi-feral dogs as well as a mom that had just delivered and was near death from starvation. These were at the vet getting vetted as much as possible and appts were made to complete the spay and neutering. The vets office was the kindest vets office I had ever been in. My dogs weren't fully vetted except for the hw/ Lyme disease test and hw preventative. Amy said the sponsor could call the vet directly with that money and never even asked us to pay a penny knowing she would be stuck with these dogs for a very long time. She was loving and caring with the dogs and they were very at easy with them. I don't know anything about all these other claims, but wanted to share my experiences with you all. I had written rescues for 12 states for 4 months about my 2 dogs, and Amy was the first one that would take them. She never asked for money, so I am clueless as to why any other rescue would want money. I actually have been warned by several animal activist to beware of a rescue that did expect money to help. Makes you wonder. While I am sure both rescues have people that love and hate them because this area is an area that seems to push people to take sides, I just don't believe all this about "Let Them Live". Yes I know I only have 1 experience with them, but it was an awesome experience and was a Godsend to me at that time in my life.

    1. Tammy, the way I read the Ripoff Report on Let Them Live Rescue by New Hope Pet Rescue, it appeared that Amy Verder offered these funds to Denise Rose of New Hope Pet Rescue and indicated that a sponsor was offering the donation in order to ensure that the dogs would be safely rescued. I do not see where Denise indicated that she already had adopters lined up in advance so I think you may be mistaken on this point. If you want more information about this situation then I would recommend that you speak to Denise directly as we were not involved and we have no additional information re: this at this time.

I am glad that you feel you had a good experience with Let Them Live and I do not know what exactly she did for you but just because someone agrees to take in animals in need does not make them responsible. How certain are you that those dogs are all fully vetted and have been (or will be) responsibly placed? I'd advise you to see hard proof before assuming that is the case. Amy is an expert liar and very good at putting on a convincing act and as you said, you only spent two hours with her.

Even good rescues need funds in order to operate. It's not asking for help that makes a rescue suspicious or bad, although how they go about it can be. What matters is how they care for the animals, including providing all the vet care they need, how transparent they are in all aspects of how they operate (including the donations they receive), and how responsible they are with fosters, adopters, and placing animals safely. It comes down to whether or not they provide a safe haven for the animals they save and how well they actually "save" them. Quality is what matters, not quantity. Sacrificing animals in order to collect money to spend on the rescuers, rather than the animals is at the very least morally corrupt. You might be okay with that but we never will be.

  4. She has been picking up peoples dogs that are in the owners yard because she wants all dogs inside poor dogs can not even go outside to potty because she drives around trying to take them. Why does the state of Ky put up with her??? she is scamming this state we never get up dates on dogs that she so called rescued. her Daughter is even crazier then her harassing anyone that has eggs or even milk and calls them an animal killer. This is how she makes a living scamming people for money and saying dogs are sick when they are not.

    1. Exactly! Amy professes to care about the welfare of dogs and even some animal rights' issues but in reality she does not live by what she says she believes. She contradicts herself (in her actions and what she says) and thereby reveals that she is a fraud in this way too. For her it is only about what image she feels she needs to portray in order to get what she wants, and if manipulating someone into believing her BS helps her to use them, to get attention or support, etc. then she will do it, never caring about how her actions may hurt others. She lies about everything, including the facts of her own life, and she only cares about animals because they are a means to an end - financial profit and attention from others who believe she is saving precious animal lives (she's not!).

I have no doubt that the Verder girls are doing the things you mentioned, they have certainly done similar things in the past. Amy purposely chooses dogs that have health issues or fabricates their illnesses/injuries because their situation will appear more urgent as well as get the attention and sympathy she needs in order to help bring the money in. There's a reason why she keeps all of the vet records and documented information about her animals private: It either does not exist or it would not substantiate her claims. There is zero transparency with Let Them Live Rescue.

I am not sure that LeAndra is crazier but she's at least as vicious, if not more so, than her mom. She's also considerably smarter than her mom in many ways but also young and immature. Still, they are both equally dangerous and certainly a danger to any animal they encounter to say the least.

      Thank you for your comment!

    1. Thank you very much for your support! She is an expert liar, manipulator, and a complete fraud of a rescuer. We hope that by providing information that reveals the truth about her and Let Them Live Rescue it will help save animal lives and prevent people from enabling her efforts to profit off of helpless animals. Thanks for your comment!
